My name is Lyon and I was born with Down Syndrome. When I was diagnosed my parents were sad and scared, BUT very quickly an organization swooped in and let my parents know they were not alone and that they were going to be there to walk with them on the journey of raising me.
You see Down Syndrome can be scary if you don't know about it just like other things you don't know about, and my parents really didn't know much. Mrs. Angie helped my parents learn with lots of information and also introduced them to other parents of kiddos just like me!
So right now I am helping to raise money so DSAG can help other parents not be scared! Did you know there are 400,000 other individuals with Down syndrome in the U.S?
Every dollar we raise brings us one step closer to ensuring that I and every individual will have the opportunity to reach their potential. My mom and dad say I can do anything I want, and Down Syndrome is just an extra special part of me. I really hope other kids get this encouragement and feel this way too!
Our fundraising efforts will support local programs and services, as well as National Down Syndrome Society advocacy and public awareness initiatives that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
